Admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital is strictly merit-based and determined by a candidate’s performance in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). The process is centralized and conducted through official counseling channels at both the state and national levels.

Step 1: NEET-UG Examination
To be eligible, candidates must have passed their 10 2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as core subjects, along with English. A minimum aggregate of 50% marks is required in the science subjects (40% for SC/ST/OBC categories). Additionally, candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the admission year.
Candidates must register for and appear in the NEET-UG examination. A valid NEET score is mandatory for consideration in the admission process.

Step 2: Counseling Registration
Once NEET-UG results are declared, candidates must participate in the counseling process. Admission to the institute is offered under two quotas:

  • State Quota (85% of seats): Managed by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB). Candidates must register through the Under-Graduate Medical Admission Counselling (UGMAC) portal.
  • All India Quota (15% of seats): Conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Candidates must register on the MCC website and follow the prescribed steps.

Step 3: Choice Filling and Seat Allotment
During counseling registration, candidates are required to fill in and lock their preferences for colleges and courses. It is important to include Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital among the preferred choices.
Seat allotment is carried out by the respective counseling authority based on NEET rank, category, and preferences. Results are released in multiple rounds, and candidates must monitor updates closely.

Step 4: Document Verification and Admission Confirmation
Candidates who are allotted a seat must report to the designated verification center with all required documents, including:

  • NEET scorecard and admit card
  • Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
  • Identity proof
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Other relevant academic and personal documents

Upon successful verification, candidates must pay the admission and tuition fees to confirm their seat. Admission is finalized only after completion of all formalities, including fee payment and submission of documents.

This structured process ensures transparency and fairness in admissions, aligning with national standards for medical and dental education. For the latest updates and deadlines, candidates are advised to regularly check the official websites of BCECEB and MCC.
