Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria for BDS Admission at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital-
Admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital is governed by both academic qualifications and performance in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for enrollment:
NEET-UG Requirements
Candidates must appear for and successfully qualify in the NEET-UG examination. Admission is strictly based on the NEET score and the candidate’s rank in the national merit list. Following the announcement of NEET results, candidates are required to participate in centralized counseling.
- For the All-India Quota (15% of seats), counseling is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
- For the State Quota (85% of seats), counseling is managed by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB).
Academic Requirements
Applicants must have completed their 10 2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects. English must be included as a core subject.
Minimum Marks Criteria
A minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology is required for general category candidates. Relaxation in the qualifying marks is provided for reserved categories:
- 40% aggregate for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC)
- 45% aggregate for candidates from the General category with physical disabilities
Age Requirement
Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as of December 31 of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET-UG.
