Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) is the embodiment of the vision and perseverance of its founder, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala. In 1993, armed with just ₹29,000 and an unwavering commitment to transform the educational landscape of the Doon Valley, he established the Graphic Era Computer Centre, offering software development and training in computer graphics. This modest beginning laid the foundation for the Graphic Era Institute of Technology (GEIT), which came into being in 1997. Over the years, the institution evolved into a premier center for higher education, culminating in its recognition as a Deemed University in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
Nestled in the heart of Dehradun, the university campus is surrounded by the natural beauty of Rajaji National Park and the historic Clement Town Cantonment. Further solidifying its academic reputation, in December 2022, Graphic Era became the only university in the region to have seven programs accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). These include Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Master of Business Administration. These accreditations not only validate the university’s high academic standards but also enable its students to pursue advanced studies at leading institutions across the globe without barriers.
