IIM Calcutta MBA Admission Process Overview
The admission process is conducted in three stages:
Stage I – CAT Examination and Eligibility Check

Eligibility: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD).

Entrance Exam: Applicants must appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT).

Minimum Cut-off: Candidates must meet the minimum sectional and overall CAT percentile cut-offs set by IIM Calcutta (typically ≥ 85 overall for General category).
Stage II – Shortlisting for PI and WAT

Candidates meeting the minimum CAT cut-offs are shortlisted based on a Composite Score.

The Composite Score considers:

CAT Score (highest weightage, normalized)

Academic performance in Class 10 and Class 12

Gender diversity factor (bonus points for female and transgender candidates)

Shortlisted candidates are invited for the Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT).
Stage III – Final Selection

The final merit list is prepared using a Final Composite Score (FCS), which includes:

Application:

Application Fee: There is no separate application fee for IIM Calcutta. Candidates apply through the CAT exam, and the fee is included in the CAT registration. When a candidate fills out the CAT application form, they select IIM Calcutta as one of their preferred institutes. The CAT application fee covers the application/consideration for IIM Calcutta.
IIM Calcutta MBA Selection Criteria: Minimum Cut-off
In stage 1, the candidate who meets the minimum cut-off , both section-wise and overall percentile, will be shortlisted. IIM Calcutta CAT cut-off is mentioned in the table below:
