Scholarships and Financial Aids Offered:

1. Internal Need-Based Financial Assistance (NBFA)

The primary financial aid offered directly by IIM Calcutta to ensure students are not forced to discontinue studies due to financial constraints.

  • Eligibility: Students with gross annual family income (including parents, spouse, and self) below ₹8 Lakhs.

  • Application Period: Typically opens in August, after the first term begins.

  • Assessment: Based on family income, assets, and educational loans taken.

  • Benefit: Ranges from partial tuition fee waiver to full reimbursement, depending on financial need.

 

2. External & Corporate Scholarships

Several private foundations and corporate sponsors provide merit-cum-means scholarships to IIM Calcutta students.

  • Aditya Birla Scholarship: ₹1.75 – ₹3.00 Lakhs; awarded to top-ranking first-year students, renewable in second year if within top 25% of batch.

  • OPJEMS (O.P. Jindal): ₹1.50 Lakhs; awarded to the top 10 second-year students based on first-year performance and an online test.

  • T. Thomas (HUL): Variable amount; awarded to one second-year student on merit-cum-means basis.

  • Ratan Tata Trust: Variable amount; based on academic excellence and financial need.

  • Mirae Asset Foundation: ₹5.00 Lakhs; for meritorious students with family income below ₹8 Lakhs.

 

3. Government of India Scholarships

Students can apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for central and state-level schemes.

  • Top Class Education (SC): Covers full tuition fee, living expenses, and laptop allowance for Scheduled Caste students.

  • National Fellowship (ST): Provides tuition fee coverage and monthly stipend for Scheduled Tribe students.

  • Merit-cum-Means (Minority): For minority community students with family income below ₹2.5 Lakhs.

  • NTPC Scholarship Scheme: ₹48,000/year; for second-year SC/ST/PwD students who cleared all first-year exams in one attempt.
