Admission

The admission process for the IIM Jammu MBA (PGP) program is a multi-stage process that primarily utilizes the Common Admission Test (CAT) score and is largely conducted through the Common Admission Process (CAP) for the newer IIMs.

Here is the step-by-step breakdown:

1. Primary Eligibility and CAT Exam

  • Take the CAT Exam: You must appear for the CAT exam and select IIM Jammu as one of your preferred institutes during the CAT registration process.

  • Application form fee : Rs.2500
  • Minimum CAT Percentiles: IIM Jammu defines minimum sectional and overall CAT cutoffs to be eligible for shortlisting for the Personal Interview (PI) process. These cutoffs are usually high for the General category (e.g., typically 94 overall percentile in CAP, with lower sectional cutoffs for IIM Jammu's Supplementary Admission Process (SAP)).

2. Shortlisting for Interview (PI)

Candidates are shortlisted for the interview process through two main channels:

A. Common Admission Process (CAP)

  • IIM Jammu is one of the participating IIMs in the CAP, a joint process conducted for PI rounds by a consortium of newer IIMs (e.g., IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Ranchi, IIM Kashipur, etc.).

  • Candidates meeting the higher CAP cutoff criteria are shortlisted and invited to attend the common PI process coordinated by the CAP host IIM.

B. Supplementary Admission Process (SAP)

  • IIM Jammu conducts a Supplementary Admission Process (SAP) for candidates who meet IIM Jammu's specific shortlisting criteria (which can have a lower CAT cutoff than the CAP cutoffs) but do not get shortlisted through the CAP.

  • The SAP often involves an additional PI round, which may be conducted jointly with IIM Bodh Gaya or other IIMs.

3. Final Merit List Criteria

After the Personal Interview (PI) is conducted (either through CAP or SAP), IIM Jammu calculates a final composite score using the following weights (weights are approximate and may change year to year):

Component Weightage Details
CAT Score 42% - 45% Scaled CAT score is used.
Personal Interview (PI) 25% - 30% Assesses communication, knowledge, and fit.
Profile 25% - 30% Broken down into Academic Profile, Work Experience, and Diversity.
Total 100%

Profile Weightage Breakdown :

  • Academic Profile: 8-10 marks (Based on Class 10th, 12th, and Graduation marks).

  • Work Experience: 8-10 marks (Marks awarded for relevant, paid, full-time experience).

  • Diversity: 8-10 marks (Generally awarded to female candidates for Gender Diversity).

4. Final Admission Offer

  • Candidates are ranked based on their Final Composite Score.

  • Offers of admission are extended to candidates based on their rank and the number of available seats in each category, strictly following the Government of India's Reservation Policy.

  • Offer Acceptance: Accepted candidates must pay a non-refundable Offer Acceptance Amount (OAA) (typically around ₹50,000) to confirm their admission, which is later adjusted against the first-term fee.
