Campus Infrastructure
Student Life at National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI)
MEPhI has a vibrant student community, particularly in science and engineering programs. Historically, the institution admitted mostly male students, with women not being accepted during its early years. However, this trend has shifted significantly, and by 2010, over 30% of first-year students were female. Between 2016 and 2018, MEPhI expanded its digital education offerings on platforms like Coursera, edX, Universarium, and CLP4NET, launching 43 courses, including 25 on Coursera and 11 on edX. By 2018, nearly 160,000 learners from 150 countries had enrolled in MEPhI’s online programs. These initiatives not only enhance academic reach but also strengthen the university’s global reputation, research output, and appeal to international faculty and students.
