BDS Admission Process at Patna Dental College and Hospital

Patna Dental College and Hospital, a premier government institution in Bihar, admits students to its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program based solely on merit through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). Given its reputation and public status, the admission process is highly competitive and conducted through centralized counseling.

Admission Procedure:

1. NEET-UG Examination Candidates must appear for and qualify in the NEET-UG exam. The NEET score is the exclusive criterion for admission to the BDS program.

2. Counseling Registration Following the declaration of NEET results, candidates are required to register for the counseling process. Admission is facilitated through two primary quotas:

  • State Quota (85% of seats): Managed by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) under the Under Graduate Medical Admission Counselling (UGMAC) system.

  • All-India Quota (15% of seats): Administered by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

3. Choice Filling and Seat Allotment During counseling, candidates must submit and lock their preferences for colleges and courses. Seat allotment is determined by NEET rank, reservation category, and selected preferences. Results are released in multiple rounds.

4. Document Verification and Final Admission Candidates allotted a seat must report to Patna Dental College with all required documents for verification. Upon successful verification, the admission and tuition fees must be paid to confirm enrollment.
