B.Tech Admission Modes

TIET offers two primary routes for admission into its B.Tech programs:

Mode-1 (Based on JEE Main Scores): 70% of seats are filled based on the All India Rank in JEE Main.
Mode-2 (Based on Class 12 Marks): 30% of seats are filled based on the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in the 12th examination.

To be eligible for admission, candidates must satisfy the following requirements based on their chosen admission mode:

Academic Qualification	Passed 12th (Higher Secondary) or equivalent from a recognized board (CBSE, ICSE, State Boards).
Mandatory Subjects	Must have passed with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry (or Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject).
Minimum PCM Marks	At least 60% aggregate in PCM (55% for SC/ST candidates).
Entrance Exam	Valid rank in JEE Main (mandatory for Mode-1).
Age Limit	Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2001 (Relaxation for SC/ST/PH).
Lateral Entry	Diploma holders with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) can enter the 2nd year via the LEET process.

TIET follows a specific seat distribution policy:

Punjab State Quota (50%): Reserved for candidates who have passed their 10 2 examination from a school/college located in the state of Punjab.
Outside Punjab Quota (50%): For candidates who have passed their 10 2 from schools outside Punjab.

Registration: Apply online through the Thapar University Admission Portal.
Application Fee: Pay the non-refundable application fee typically around ₹1,500 – ₹2,000.
Submission of Scores: Enter your JEE Main scores (for Mode-1) or 12th PCM marks (for Mode-2).
Merit List: The university releases separate merit lists for both modes and categories (Punjab/Outside Punjab).
Online Counseling: Shortlisted candidates participate in the online counseling process to select their preferred engineering branches.
Confirmation: Pay the initial admission fee and undergo document verification to secure the seat.
