Eligibility

1. Entrance Examination Requirement

To be eligible for admission, candidates must appear for and qualify in the NEET-UG exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Minimum NEET Qualifying Percentile (as per DCI and MoHFW guidelines):

Unreserved (UR/EWS) 50th Percentile
UR/EWS – Persons with Disability 45th Percentile
SC/ST/OBC 40th Percentile
SC/ST/OBC – PwD 40th Percentile
 
 

2. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed Class 12 (HSE/Plus Two) or an equivalent examination with the following subjects:

  • Compulsory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English

  • Minimum Aggregate Marks in PCB:

    • General Category: 50% or above

    • SC/ST/OBC Categories: 40% or above

    • General PwD Category: 45% or above

 

3. Age Criteria

  • Minimum Age: Must be at least 17 years old on or before December 31 of the admission year

  • Upper Age Limit: As per current NTA and Supreme Court guidelines, there is no upper age limit for NEET-UG

 

4. Domicile and Counselling Requirements

Admission to Government Dental College, Kottayam is done through centralized counselling under two quotas:

All India Quota 15% Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Govt. of India
Kerala State Quota 85% Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala
 
  • For State Quota, candidates must generally meet the domicile/nativity requirements of Kerala.

 

Important Note on Cut-offs

Admission to GDC Kottayam is highly competitive. While meeting the minimum NEET qualifying percentile is mandatory, securing a seat, especially under the General category, requires a much higher NEET rank than the minimum cutoff. Final closing ranks are published after each round of counselling by MCC and CEE Kerala.
