BDS Admission Process – MGPGI Puducherry (2025)

Admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program at MGPGI is strictly based on merit, determined by the candidate’s performance in the NEET UG 2025 examination.

Step-by-Step Admission Procedure

  1. NEET UG 2025 Participation Candidates must appear for and qualify in the NEET UG exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

  2. Eligibility Criteria

    • Educational Qualification: Completion of 10 2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as compulsory subjects.

    • Minimum Marks:

      • General Category: Minimum 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.

      • SC/ST/OBC Categories: Minimum 40% aggregate.

    • Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year.

  3. Counselling Registration After NEET results are announced, candidates must register for counselling through the appropriate authority based on their quota:

    • All India Quota (15%): Managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

    • State Quota (85%): Reserved primarily for Puducherry domiciles and conducted by the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), Puducherry.

  4. Choice Filling and Locking During counselling rounds, candidates select MGPGI as their preferred institution and lock their choices.

  5. Seat Allotment Seats are allocated based on NEET rank, category, and preferences submitted during counselling.

  6. Document Verification and Final Admission Selected candidates must report to MGPGI with the required documents and pay the applicable fees to confirm their admission.

 

NEET UG Cut-off Ranks – MGPGI BDS (All India Quota)

The NEET closing rank indicates the last rank at which admission was granted under a specific category. These ranks fluctuate annually based on exam difficulty, number of applicants, and seat availability.

State Quota (CENTAC) Cut-off Insight

For candidates applying under the Puducherry domicile quota via CENTAC, the cut-off ranks tend to be less competitive. For example, in 2025, the Round 2 closing rank for the General category under CENTAC was approximately 255,533.
