Overview
Jhargram Government Medical College & Hospital (JGMCH) is a public medical institution located in Jhargram, West Bengal, India. Established in August 2021 under the Phase-II of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the establishment of new medical colleges attached to existing district hospitals, the college commenced its first MBBS batch in 2022. It is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
About the Hospital
The journey of Jhargram Government Hospital began in 1956 as a Sub-Divisional Hospital. In 2012, it was upgraded to a District Hospital following the declaration of Jhargram as a 'Health District' by the State Government. On February 11, 2016, the Hon'ble Chief Minister inaugurated the Jhargram Super Specialty Hospital, which was later merged with the existing District Hospital. With the establishment of JGMCH, the hospital now serves as a teaching hospital for medical students.
