Manipur Technical University (MTU)

Manipur Technical University (MTU) is the first technical university in the State of Manipur, established on April 23, 2016, under "The Manipur Technical University Act, 2016." The university was founded with the objective of providing a dedicated platform for high-quality technical education and research to meet the growing industrial and technological demands of the North Eastern region. In its nascent stages, the university functioned with significant support from the Ministry of Education (then MHRD) through the TEQIP-III program, under which the prestigious College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) served as its mentoring institute. This partnership helped establish robust academic standards and modern laboratory practices from the very beginning. While currently operating from a temporary site, the University has already made strides in capacity building and has become a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is envisioned as an affiliating university for all technical institutions within Manipur in the future.
